Due to Michael Jackson's passing yesterday, today's video is definitely going to be one of his videos. I have so many random MJ memories. From when I was about 4 or 5 and wearing out MJ albums so much that we had like 3 copies of Thriller & Bad. They would get scratch and I'm sure I would beg my parents to buy another when they got to the point of unplayable. I remember being that young and knowing how to put an album on the record player, keeping the Fat boys, Whoodini, & MJ in constant rotation. But I would truly workout to MJ, imulating his every move. I remember the big deal it was when MJ and his brothers reunited to perform for Motown's 25 Year anniversary show and then he had his solo for Billie Jean and bust out with the moonwalk for the first time.
One of the many things that Michael will be remembered for is his creativity in music videos. Michael was the first black person to get his videos in rotation on MTV because they did NOT play black videos before MJ. Then he came out with what most consider to be the best music video ever, "Thiller". It was ground breaking and the first of its kind. It was a mini movie. He continued to be very innovative in this medium. Some of the special affects he would us in music videos had not be done in movies to that point. The video I'm posting today was a huge deal when it came out. It debut on prime-time network television. I cant think of a single artist in my lifetime to EVER have a music video debut on national television. I'm not sure it will ever happen again.
RIP King of Pop & Music Video
